Privacy policy
Care Duck stores what you write only on your iPhone and sends none of it anywhere. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no server of ours. This page says the same thing in more detail.
What the app stores on your iPhone
- The text you write about yourself and, if you enter one, your first name.
- Your chosen waking hours and how many messages a day you want.
- The messages written for you, both the ones waiting to be delivered and the ones already delivered, along with whether you tapped the heart on them.
- A short diagnostic count of why recent drafts were rejected, shown under Settings. It contains no text, only numbers.
All of it lives in the app's private storage on the device, protected by the iPhone's built-in encryption. It is not synced to iCloud by the app. If you use an encrypted iPhone backup, it travels inside that backup like any other app data.
How messages are written
Messages are written by Apple Intelligence running on your iPhone. The text you wrote about yourself is given to the on-device model, together with the messages you have already received so they are not repeated. Nothing is sent to us or to any other company. On an iPhone without Apple Intelligence the app uses a fixed set of general sentences and does not read your profile at all.
If a future version adds Apple's larger model running on Apple's Private Cloud Compute, this policy and the app's own privacy screen will be updated first. That would mean your profile text is processed on Apple's servers under Apple's Private Cloud Compute guarantees, which do not retain it or link it to you.
What leaves your iPhone
Nothing. The app makes no network connections. It does not collect usage data, crash reports or device identifiers, and it contains no third-party software development kits. Its App Store privacy label says "Data not collected", and the app's privacy manifest declares no tracking and no collected data types.
Notifications
Messages arrive as local notifications scheduled on the device itself. No push service is involved. Notification permission is optional; the app explains how to turn it on or off in Settings and works either way.
Erasing your data
Open Settings inside the app and choose Erase everything. That stops any writing in progress and removes the profile, all messages, any pending notifications and any scheduled background work. Deleting the app from your iPhone removes all of it too. Because we hold no copy, there is nothing further to request from us.
Tips
The app has an optional tip jar under Settings. Tips are in-app purchases handled entirely by Apple: the app never sees your payment details, stores nothing about the purchase, and unlocks nothing in return. Apple's own privacy policy covers the transaction.
This website
This website is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics. It loads its typeface from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests the font files from Google, and it may link to Buy Me a Coffee for optional donations. Anything you do on those sites is covered by their own privacy policies, not this one, and none of it reaches the app.
Children
The app is not directed at children and asks for no age or identity. It collects nothing from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the effective date at the top changes with it and the app's own privacy screen is updated to match. Changes that would send data off the device would be described in the app before they take effect.
